Ecobuild: PVCaware.org shows how old PVC can be used in new windows not landfill

Visit Ecobuild 2-4 March 2010, Earls Court London, stand: 1255, British Plastics Federation, PVCaware.org, to see one of first windows made from recycled PVC-U.

Call Jon Skinner on m 07808 092169, a PVC-U windows expert, on the day to meet and find out more.

A window with a frame made from recyled PVC on display on the PVCaware.org stand at Ecobuild shows how old plastic can be brought back in to use instead of going to landfill.

Each year in the UK more than 40,000 tonnes of PVC are being recycled and reused instead of going in to landfill.

Showing the window is part of a drive by the British Plastics Federation’s PVCaware.org to promote the recycling of discarded PVC-U windows.

Jon Skinner, chair of marketing for BPF windows and the PVCaware.org campaign, said: “We need to encourage people to think of recycling not landfill when it comes to disposing of old PVC-U windows. Many end users are still unaware that PVC windows and doors can be recycled.”

Window frames made from recycled PVC-U are now being installed in UK homes.

The recycled window displayed was made by a BPF member company Profile 22 and was the winner of best recycled product of 2009.

PVC-U can be recycled up to 10 times.
