Space4Living Boss Says He Will Get In Touch!
The boss of a building firm which disappeared from Blackpool leaving householders thousands of pounds out of pocket said he was determined work on customers’ homes would be finished.
Barry Palin, managing director of kitchen and conservatory firm Space4Living, contacted The Blackpool Gazette to insist he was in the process of contacting his customers.
The company moved out of its Marton showroom last week leaving householders with half-finished conservatories and orangeries. A sign, placed on the door, claimed the premises on Brimlow Road had been closed for refurbishment. However, the landlord said he was “surprised” by the emptying of the showroom.
Police and trading standards are also investigating the closure.
A spokesman for Trading Standards appealed to Mr Palin to get in touch saying: “We would more than welcome a call from the firm’s owner.”
Mr Palin blamed “cash flow problems” for forcing him to halt work on a number of projects. And he said his firm had not disappeared from the Fylde coast but was hunting for new, lower cost, premises. The St Annes-based businessman insisted his main priorities were his customers and ensuring work was completed on their homes. But, after making the pledge to The Gazette, Mr Palin took legal advice and declined to comment further on issues affecting his customers.
Furious families have been left with part-built extensions after Space4Living left its showroom and did not leave a forwarding address.
Customers say they have not only been left with half-built conservatories but also thousands of pounds out of pocket.
Some people had paid up to £35,000 for building work. And employees also claimed they were not paid on time.
